Benita is the Community Outreach Director responsible for community outreach and development of youth policy at the Ming Wai Youth Office. After graduation with honours in Biology and Cognitive Science at Cornell University, Benita pursued a master's degree in Marine Biology at Boston University. The studies provided her with extensive field experiences in Australia, Indonesia, Mexico and the U.S. Benita’s passion is always for the ocean and the environment. As a freelance scuba diving instructor, she is zealously devoted to passing on her knowledge on coral reef biology and concern for conservation to local youth.
Committed to youth development, Benita obtained Life Coaching certification and diploma in Career Guidance and Counselling from the University of Hong Kong. Her experience includes working as experiential educator at Outward Bound Hong Kong, Student Life Officer at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Program Director at the Youth Arch Foundation. In addition, Benita is actively engaged in the development of her alma mata, Maryknoll Convent School, and has been an Executive Committee member of the MCS Foundation since 2009.
Benita is currently committed to a range of pro-bono services for Diversity and Inclusion. She is Co-Chair of the Hong Kong Gay Games 2022 Bidding Team and recently awarded by Community Business for her work as a Walk-In-HK LGBT Walk tour guide.
